I saw how the afternoon light came in the front window and had to grab this shot. The sun disappeared behind the tree a moment later.

At the Kitchen Window

The younger hobbit pauses during a second breakfast (mid-afternoon snack) to look out the kitchen window. What does he notice? What does he wonder?

Strawberry Picking

Converse high tops in a strawberry field. It’s hard for a teenager to know what footwear to put on your feet when you pick strawberries for the first time.

Mop

So he’s decided to grow a ponytail. Right now he calls it the ‘mop’.

At Rest

Sprout One is an introvert like me and needs a lot of down time after interacting with people all day. This summer he has worked a full-time job to help pay for university (a time which is approaching fast!). When he comes home, he curls up in a favourite chair, reads a book or catches up on news on his iPhone, enjoying the quiet and safety of home.

Wind

Though he first laments that the back seat windows cannot go all the way down (like in Opa’s car), this boy then finds contentment, eyes closed, wind blowing in on his face.

Library

He didn’t even wait for us to sign the books out, he was that excited about reading the next book in the series.

Backseat Musings

The youngest sprout is talkative, especially so around people with whom he is comfortable. At times he seems to verbalize streams of consciousness. It isn’t inane, yet it can be overwhelming for the rest of the family at times, especially the older sprout. There are moments, though, when he becomes quiet and still, focussing his thoughts inward. What is he thinking? What profound or amusing idea will he share next?
